Hi everyone! I am looking for advice on products that can help to heal cuts and tears on the vulva. I am experiencing itchiness and pain around my clitoris. I often have BV but I dont think it is that this time because it seems more localised and I don't have other symptoms like smell/abnormal discharge. It seems more like the skin around the clitoris is damaged from either sex or wiping/scratching. I have used hydrocortisone steroid cream in the past but am searching for something more mild, that won't lead to skin thinning!! I use double base cream for moisturising and alleviating itching symptoms but it doesn't have any long term effect in healing the skin specifically, and I'm worried that using too much of it is actually preventing the skin from healing!!
Thanks in advance for any advice xxx
Hi
I occasionally suffer with my perianal skin splitting/tearing and my Physio recommended Yes VM its a natural vaginal moisturiser.
It comes in 'pre filled' applicators which are supposed to last 3 days per application or you can just purchase a 100ml tube which is what I purchase and then I apply it twice a day.
Not sure if its of any help but has improved my perianal tears/splitting and I only tend to suffer if I forget to apply it for a few days running.

Thank you so much! I will try that
Hi Tamsin Ive been going through the same. I was misdiagnosed with thrush for over 8 years by the nhs. I went private and got told I have eczema down there. I used neat steroids and moisturuser but some flares i could never get under control. After searching online out of desperation I came across Dr Aron regime it has changed my life. I still get the odd flare but it’s not life changing how it used to be and not as often! Please join The Facebook group. It’s a moisturiser, steroid and antibiotic cream all in one. It is a very low steroid dose and antibiotic is needed to get rid of the staph infection you start off with 4 apps per day then taper slowly until you only spot treat. I hope this helps anyone out there reading this xxx
Thank you so much,Sian. I will check it out. I purchased the Yes Vaginal moisturiser recommended by @Mrs Hembrow Jnr and it is really doing the tricks at the moment! But if it flares up I will take your suggestion @sianhosford , thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
My dr told me to use aveeno moisturiser on vulvar skin. Does this sound right ? Had a uti after using it for a week. Wonder if it’s connected ?
Oh gosh! So sorry to hear that. I have also seen Aveeno mentioned online as a remedy for vulval itching, but not tried it myself. Do you know what the ingredients are? I have often found that vulval and vaginally itching itself leads to UTIs. I guess the itching and damages skin causes problems with the opening of the urethra as well. If you get regular UTIs, from experience, I can recommend nothing better than a strong cranberry supplement tablet. I take them daily and it has reduced the occurance of UTIs a lot! If I forget to take one for 2/3 days running, I get a UTI... thats how effective they are (when I do remember to take them!) These provide quite a high concentrate, and H&B do some good promotions at certain times of year!! https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/holland-barrett-triple-strength-cranberry-concentrate-tablets-60013791
It was for moisturising really as I suffer with tearing from sex. not itching at all. Il try the cranberry tabs I’ve had 2 UTI in 3mths. This is ingredients
Aqua, Glycerin, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Isopropyl Palmitate, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Avena Sativa Kernel Flour, Allantoin, Paraffin, Cera Microcristallina, Isopropyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol
thanks for responding.
@laurajmoz as I mentioned above to @Tamsin my intimate physiotherapist recommened I tried Yes VM its a natural vaginal moisturiser.
It comes in 'pre filled' applicators which are supposed to last 3 days per application or you can just purchase a 100ml tube which is what I purchase and then I apply it twice a day.
It has improved my perianal tears/splitting no end I now only tend to suffer if I forget to apply it for a few days running...
I wouldn't like to comment on your drs suggestion of Aveeno...but its not something I personally would want to apply to my vulva....mainly because I have to moisturise just inside the vagina entrance as well as the vulva.
